Terms of Use Louisiana-Pacific SmartSide® Listed Installer Program I. SCOPE Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (LP), seeks to establish a network of independent siding contractors whose personnel have received training in the proper handling, installation and maintenance of LP SmartSide siding, trim, soffit and fascia products. This program summary sets forth the requirements and provides for standardized procedures for selection and training of these contractors. This program shall not in any way constitute an apprenticeship, supervisory, or inspection program. LP intends to publish and maintain a list of installers who have successfully completed training and have met all other program requirements. This policy is not intended to limit competition or restrict firms from becoming listed installers. This policy should result in a higher quality of finished work and increase the number of installers to enhance competitive bidding. II. WARRANTIES LP does not assume any responsibility or liability, expressed or implied, for work performed by the installer. In no event does a certificate constitute a warranty or guarantee of the installer’s performance or capability of performance. III. REQUIREMENTS Any firm desiring to become a listed installer must meet the following requirements. A. The firm must employ siding applicators experienced in installing engineered wood products. B. The firm must furnish architectural, general contractor, and financial references. C. The firm must be licensed or registered to do business as a contractor if local laws require licensing or registration. D. The firm must exhibit a record of excellent workmanship in siding applications. E. As a minimum, a firm foreman and field superintendent must attend and successfully complete SmartSide installation training. F. The firm must execute an Installer Agreement and return it to LP prior to beginning installation training. IV. TRAINING The initial training of installer personnel shall be conducted online using training modules developed by LP. Following successful completion of the online modules, the installers will have the opportunity to participate in “hands on” training programs held several times during the year at various locations. Completion of training on other siding materials and systems does not constitute training for purposes of receiving a listing certificate for LP SmartSide® products. V. PROCEDURES An installer candidate must submit an application to LP (copy attached), including the name of the superintendent and/or foreman and others to be trained as well as the required references. LP will check the references and, if qualified, schedule the firm’s personnel for training. After successful completion of training a listing package will be returned to the candidate including a listing agreement. The Agreement must be completed by the firm and returned to LP. Upon receipt of the executed agreement, LP will assign the firm a number and forward the certificate to the firm. VI. FAILURE TO QUALIFY If after review, the candidate firm is determined not to have qualified to become a listed installer, they will be so notified by LP in writing outlining the reason for denial. VII. BRANCH OFFICES Supervisory personnel of installer branch offices must be trained and the other program requirements listed here must be satisfied by each branch office. VIII. REMOVAL OF LISTING A. LP may in its sole discretion revoke an installer’s listing for any or all of the following reasons: 1. Poor workmanship and complaints. 2. Failure to meet financial responsibilities. 3. Failure to follow LP SmartSide® installation instructions. 4. LP is sued by the installer, an installer subcontractor or a customer of the either. IX. TERMS A listing certificate, once issued, shall remain in effect for two (2) years unless it is terminated by LP or the installer prior to expiration.
